Cleaning Tricky Blinds in Sunny San Diego

A True Recent Blind Account Straight from James:

"Just the other day we went out to service a San Diego client's tile floors. (Our 45 year old local company cleans nearly all types of fine furnishings and flooring.)  Although the job that day focused on her tile flooring, I noticed my client had Hunter Douglas blinds hanging in her living and dining rooms. (Hunter Douglas blinds are high end window coverings known for their exceptional looks and tailored customization to any size window.) We have also cleaned fine drapery and window coverings for decades.

Although very fine and stately, my client's blinds had become dingy with time and there even were many bugs stuck inside the folds. The blinds were quality pieces but needed some top-notch cleaning by experienced technicians. When I mentioned to our client in passing that we can actually clean and sanitize Hunter Douglas blinds, our client became excited. She was delighted to find someone to service them because she had no idea what to do with them anymore and had actually thought about replacing them. She gave us the go ahead to work our magic but was a bit skeptical on what we could accomplish. The state of her older and dirty window coverings was that bad.

These types of blinds can be gorgeous but what to do when it comes time to clean them? Throw them in the washing machine? Call a cleaner? Dry cleaner?  Many cleaning companies you can call simply don't know how to service Hunter Douglas blinds. The blinds are paper thin and the folds can be easily crushed. Washing machines would ruin them and dry cleaners won't touch them. That's where we at Tony's Best Way in San Diego came to our client's rescue!

We did not have to remove the window coverings to clean them. We could clean them just as they hang on the windows they covered, which means no living in a fishbowl if your window coverings or drapes need cleaning!

Our Step by Step Window Blind Cleaning Method:

First we carefully vacuumed up the bugs and the loose dust from the blinds. Then we brought out our very special dry cleaning machine. This machine is awesome. It heats up dry cleaning solvent and sprays it in a fine mist. We sprayed the dry cleaning solution on the Hunter Douglas blinds and with the next pass, we suctioned out all the dingy dirty buildup, leaving beautiful white, clean, new-looking blinds behind. Afterward, we brought out our professional array of special spotters to remove stains from the blinds. The final step was to apply dust and stain repellent on the window treatments to make sure they stayed clean and protected for a long time.

The results were impressive, as usual. Our client was ecstatic to have nice, fresh, clean Hunter Douglas blinds instead of having to replace them! I stepped out after the job feeling good about making someone feel good about their clean home. Another success story."

Do you too have Hunter Douglas blinds? Now you too know what to do when your investment in this fine furnishing, in due process of time, attracts the unavoidable plagues of indoor air; dust, skin dander and even deceased insects -including dust mites!
